From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the party reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
